Frequently asked questions

Hopefully your questions will be answered here. If not please get in touch!

Please see our Government CV19 Safety Guidelines for all the information you need.

All the clues and puzzles are achievable, but some are easier than others.  Information on the levels of difficulty for each room are listed when you click on the details of each room.   Briefly, the Curse of the Lost Chamber is our easiest room and suitable for younger children and families and first time escapees.   Escape the Castle and The Amber Room are both more difficult.  If you are not sure which one to go for, do please give us a call on 01753 396322 and we can give you some more advice.

You will need to work together with your team to use all your powers of observation and to focus on the task in hand.    Your Games Master will be watching you via a webcam and is there to provide necessary clues if you need them or ask for them.   We want every team to succeed in their quest to escape.

Escape the Castle and The Amber Room are both situated up a couple of flights of stairs – there is no lift - so you will need to be able to walk up the stairs.  The Curse of the Lost Chamber is situated on the ground floor; however, the room is not huge, and some of the room will not be accessible for wheelchairs.

Our escape rooms are not particularly physical, but more of a mental challenge.

Escape the Castle and The Amber Room are not suitable for children under the age of 10 and 12 respectively.  however, if you wish to book for ages 8 to 12, please be aware that some young people will be able to help find clues but may not be able to solve some of the puzzles without help.

However, if your party is made up of predominantly younger people, then we can tailor the clues in Escape The Castle to be more age appropriate, if we are made aware prior to the game.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by at least one adult.

The Curse of the Lost Chamber is suitable for a younger audience, ages 7 to 13, and for young families.  However, we can tailor clues to make the room appropriate for groups of adults, provided we are made aware prior to the game.    Prior to Covid-19, we could have groups of up to 10 children in the room on their own, as there was a Games Master in the room with them.  However, for the time being, we are not providing this service until it is safe to do so.

Do give us a call on 01753 396322 if you wish to discuss which room might be suitable for the ages of your party.

Windsor Leisure Centre is situated right on the River Thames.  Enjoy a 10-minute walk along the river from the Town Centre or from either Windsor & Eton Riverside or Windsor & Eton Central train stations.  If travelling from the M4, take Junction 6 and head southbound on the A355.  Coming from the M40, take junction 2 and take the A355 going south through Slough to Windsor.

You should arrive 15 minutes before your game is due to start.  If you are hosting a birthday party, then we suggest that you ask party guests to arrive 20/30 minutes before your game is due to start.  Wait by the “Escape in 60” sign next to the Cafe inside Windsor Leisure Centre and your Games Master will come and collect you.  There is no need to queue up outside the Leisure Centre with those using the other facilities.

Our Games Master will then take you to the Escape Room, where you will be fully briefed.

Comfortable clothes are advisable.  You will be walking through the swimming pool area to reach the room, which can be quite hot, so layers are a good idea.  Our escape rooms are air conditioned.

You can take your bags/coats inside the room with you.

There is plenty of inexpensive paid-for car parking immediately outside Windsor Leisure Centre (two hours for £1.60 approximately).  Please allow extra time to park during weekends, as the Leisure Centre can be very busy.

We are open on Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 9.30pm

Saturday and Sunday open from 10.00am to 8.00pm

Times will vary on bank holidays.

We understand that arrangements can change, and we will do our best to reschedule your game free of charge, provided notice is given at least 24 hours prior to the game taking place.   Games can only be rescheduled within 30 days of the original booking.

Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds for those who don’t turn up.

In most cases there is no problem in adding an extra player to your booking.  We would ask that you pay for that extra person on arrival.  We are happy to use our discretion if you are looking to add an extra player over and above the recommended limit per room.   Please give us a call ahead of your game to discuss.

None of our escape rooms have windows, but they don’t feel claustrophobic.  The rooms are not locked, so you can get out at any time very quickly.

We are very child friendly at Escape in 60, and love hosting birthday parties.

The Curse of the Lost Chamber is perfect for birthday parties for children ages 7 to 13.    We can adapt Escape the Castle to make the clues easier for ages 10 and above too.  We provide small gifts for the players and a gift for the birthday child.  Windsor Leisure Centre offers great hot and cold food and has rooms available to hire, subject to availability.  We will liaise with the Leisure Centre on your behalf to arrange room hire.      We also provide party invitations for you to print.  Please call us to discuss your individual requirements.

We welcome corporate parties to Escape in 60 and Windsor Leisure Centre can offer tailored hot and cold food as well as room hire, subject to availability.  Please call us to discuss your requirements.

We ask that mobile phones are not used during the game.   Please do not take any photos or video of the room as this may well undermine other gamers’ enjoyment of the room.   What goes on in the room, stays in the room!

The room will not be physically locked, and so gamers can leave the room at any time.  However, we would suggest that, unless in exceptional circumstances, you remain in the room for the full hour, so that you fully enjoy the experience.

Yes, there is a café within Windsor Leisure Centre which serves both hot and cold food and beverages.  However, there are still some limits on food available for birthday parties.  Please speak to either Kathryn or Mike on 01753 396322 to find out what options are currently available.

There is every chance!!!
