Frequently Asked Questions

Hopefully your questions will be answered here. If not please get in touch!

How difficult is the Escape Room?
All the clues and puzzles are achievable, but some are easier than others.  You will need to work together with your team to use all you powers of observation and to focus on the task in hand.    Your Games Master will be watching you via a webcam (or in the room with you in The Curse of the Lost Chamber) and is there to provide necessary clues if you need them or ask for them.   We want every team to succeed in their quest to escape.

Who is it suitable for?
Escape the Castle is situated up a couple of flights of stairs – there is no lift, so you will need to be able to walk up the stairs. The Curse of the Lost Chamber is situated on the ground floor, however, the room is not huge and part of the room will not be accessible for wheelchairs. The escape rooms are not very physical, but more a mental challenge.

Is there an age restriction?
Escape The Castle - is not suitable for children under the age of 8.  Some young people will be able to help find clues, but may not be able to solve some of the puzzles.  However, if your party is made up of predominantly younger people, then we can tailor the clues to be more age appropriate, if we are made aware prior to the game.  Children under 16 years old must be accompanied by at least one adult.

The Curse of the Lost Chamber - is suitable for a younger audience, ages 7 to 13.  Adults are welcome to play the game but must bear in mind that this is tailored to younger people. Young people do not need to be chaperoned as there will be a Games Master in the room with them at all times. (DBS checks have been carried out on Games Masters).

Where is Windsor Leisure Centre?
Windsor Leisure Centre is situated right on the River Thames.  Enjoy a 10 minute walk along the river from the Town Centre or from either Windsor & Eton Riverside or Windsor & Eton Central  train stations.  If travelling from the M4, take Junction 6 and head southbound on the A355.  Coming from the M40, take junction 2 and take the A355 going south through Slough to Windsor. The address is Stovell Road, Clewer, Windsor, Berkshire SL4 5JB.

When should we arrive?
You should arrive 15 minutes before your game is due to start.   Wait by the “Escape in 60 sign” inside Windsor Leisure Centre and your Games Master will come and collect you.  There is no need to queue up outside the Leisure Centre with those using the other facilities.     Our Games Master will then take you up to the Escape Room, where you will be fully briefed.

If you arrive late for your booking, then you may not be able to play the game in full, especially if the next game is booked. We will do our very best to give you the best possible experience, but cannot promise that you will be able to play for the full hour.

What should we wear?
Comfortable clothes are advisable.  You will be walking through the swimming pool area to reach the room, which can be quite hot, so layers are a good idea.  Our rooms are air conditioned.

What can I do with my valuables?
You can take your bags/coats inside the room with you.

Parking
There is plenty of inexpensive paid-for car parking immediately outside Windsor Leisure Centre (two hours for £1.60 approximately).

What are your opening times?
We are open:
Monday to Friday from 10am to 9.30pm
Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 8pm

Can I change my booking?
We understand that arrangements can change, and we will do our best to reschedule your game free of charge, provided it is within 30 days of the original booking.

Can I get a refund if someone in our party doesn’t turn up?
Unfortunately, we cannot give refunds for those who don’t turn up.

Can I add an extra player?
In most cases there is no problem in adding an extra player to your booking.  We would ask that you pay for that extra person on arrival.  We are happy to use our discretion if you are looking to add an extra player over and above the recommended limit per room.  Please give us a call ahead of your game to discuss.

Is the room claustrophobic?
Neither room has windows, but neither feels claustrophobic.  You are not locked in the room, and can get out at any time very quickly.

Do you offer birthday parties?
We are very child friendly at Escape in 60, and love hosting birthday parties. Both Escape the Castle and The Curse of the Lost Chamber can hold birthday parties. We provide small gifts for the players and a gift for the birthday child.  The Leisure Centre offers great hot and cold party food, and has rooms available to hire, subject to availability. We offer a birthday package too, which includes an hour in the escape room followed by food and room hire.

Can you offer catering for corporate events?
We welcome corporate parties to Escape in 60 and the Leisure Centre can offer tailored hot and cold food as well as room hire.  Please call us to discuss your requirements.

Can I use my mobile phone whilst playing the game?
We ask that mobile phones are not used during the game.   Please do not take any photos or video of the room as this may well undermine other gamers’ enjoyment of the room.   What goes on in the room, stays in the room!

Can I leave the Escape Room at any time?
The room will not be physically locked, and so gamers can leave the room at any time.  However, we would suggest that, unless in exceptional circumstances, you remain in the room for the full hour, so that you fully enjoy the experience.

Are there catering facilities?
Yes, there is a café within Windsor Leisure Centre which serves both hot and cold food and beverages.

Will I become addicted to Escape Rooms?
There is every chance!!!
